Educational Enrichment

An essential part of our mission as a non-profit organization is to provide educationally enriching experiences and activities to our community. We strive to partner with individuals and organizations who align with our goals to further these benefits for our Island community and neighbors alike.

To Apply, email inquiry@WhidbeyIslandRenFaire.org.

  • Educational Enrichment participants lend to the educational, scientific, factual, and historical aspects of our faire by teaching patrons about the Renaissance, the Middle Ages, and the culture and genre of Fantasy in some way or another; also acceptable are topics that relate to sustainability and handicrafts that would be fitting of the time or useful to know in our present day and age, such as farming, crafting items using natural resources (i.e. arrowheads, bows, baskets, fishing nets, etc.)

  • Educational Enrichment applicants will be subject to a $15 registration fee and will need to provide their 501(c)(3) organization paperwork, as well as their mission statement, description of skills/demos, & activities

  • If what they do or provide requires insurance, they will also need to provide their UBI and insurance documents at the time of application

  • If a blacksmith or another applicant of that sort would like to demo their skills and sell their wares, they can do so, but will be subject to the 10% gross sales fee before taxes, and will supply their sales documentation for the faire, as any other vendor is required to do

  • Educational Enrichment participants may solicit tips or donations passively; but they may not require or pressure patrons to donate in order to participate in the activity or to view the demonstration; 100% of collected tips and donations by the organization/applicant belongs to that organization

  • WRF retains the right to select or deny applicants to the Educational Enrichment program at will, if we feel the organization or applicant, for any reason, is not a good fit for our event

  • This solution fosters a sense of community by creating opportunities for other nonprofit organizations or demonstrators to get involved with our events at a ground floor threshold in a way that can greatly benefit both parties, while still leaving room for inflation, growth, and any potential future adjustments. By requiring a processing fee we are placing value on our time and work, which is vital if we are to carry on WRF’s mission to serve and celebrate our community.
